The Foundation
Welcome
As mayor of Mislata, but above all as a neighbor and friend of Miquel, it was an honor for me to be part of the beginnings of this Fundació Miquel Navarro, which safeguards the future of his memory. The future workshop museum, headquarters of this entity, will protect his recognition, consolidate his work within the cultural heritage of Valencians, guaranteeing its dissemination and knowledge to future generations.
It should be noted that Miquel perhaps would not have been the artist he is today without taking into account the history and ethnological roots of Mislata. The ditches that surrounded his house, the mud, the bricks, the vegetation, the insects and the silhouettes of the industrial landscape, were elements that drew the environment of our city throughout the 20th century, and also configured the poetic ideology and the enormous visual culture of Miquel Navarro.
With an entire life dedicated to art, Miquel is already a bastion of cultural prestige and his presence in international museums is reinforced by the affection of those who recognize his works in public squares around the world.
In that sense, this Foundation aspires to consolidate all the values that surround its career, promoting the conservation and dissemination of its art and its own workshop in Mislata; city in which he always lived, and in which he still works today. Thus, we will remain firmly committed to defending his legacy in the international cultural sphere.
Carlos Fernández Bielsa
Mayor of Mislata
The Fundació Miquel Navarro of the Valencian Community is a private, non-profit entity. It was created by the Mislatero artist to preserve and disseminate his work, in addition to promoting artistic creation, intercultural dialogue and training through art.
To fulfill these purposes, the Foundation has the support of the Mislata City Council, the Valencia Provincial Council, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
About us
The Fundació Miquel Navarro of the Valencian Community was established in July 2020 as a private, non-profit entity.
At that time, the renowned artist, with work in the most important museums in the world and public sculptures in more than fifty cities, saw the dream of creating his own foundation fulfilled and preserving a large part of his artistic legacy in his hometown, Mislata, where he lives and works, and for which he feels strong roots.
To achieve this project, Miquel Navarro has had the close cooperation of the Mislata City Council, an institution that has always
has promoted the work of his “favorite son” and managed the collaboration agreement between the Fundació and the council itself, together with the Provincial Council of Valencia, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in October 2020.
The Miquel Navarro Foundation boasts an artistic collection of over 400 works donated by the artist, as well as a unique space where the creator of “L’Almassil”, “Public Fountain” (Pink Panther) and “Watchful City” has his studio. These premises were adapted in 2024 to hold the foundation’s Workshop House (“La Casa Taller), which was inaugurated on 25 June 2026.

Workshop House
The activities of the Miquel Navarro Foundation are mainly carried out at the Workshop House (La Casa Taller), an architectural complex situated in the Morería neighbourhood of Mislata, right in the heart of the historic centre of this town in the L’Horta Sud region of Valencia.
The project to adapt the premises – which has transformed Miquel Navarro’s workshop, courtyard and historic studio into a museum and multi-purpose space – was carried out by the prestigious architectural practice Nebot Arquitectos. The works, funded by the Diputació de València through a direct grant of 676,000 euros, were completed in 2024.
The Fundació Miquel Navarro’s Casa Taller comprises five distinct areas spread over two floors.
The entire complex is conceived as a living space, from which the legacy of the Misla-born sculptor – winner of the 1986
National Prize for the Visual Arts – will be put at the service of society, and from which both dynamic exhibitions and various events will be organised to foster synergies between education, culture and art.
Following the official opening on 25 July 2026, the venue is scheduled to open to the public in the final quarter of the year.
